THE EQUIPMENT
Motorized Nikons were used for the dance performance work. A large portion of the studio work was done using the Norita. This is a great 21/4/ format slr with a 80mm f2 lens. It is shown here with the 70mm leaf shutter lens. Out of production since the early 80'and hard to find parts for. More recently I have been using the Mamiya 645E which is also a great camera, if you do not need auto focus, film backs, ability to attach digital backs etc this is a real bargain. As long as you do not need all those other options this is an inexpensive way to get into medium format.

I do all my own B&W processing and while I know my way around the darkroom I now prefer the digital darkroom. The control that can be exercised is greater than what the wet darkroom allows and the ease of experimentation allows for some discoveries that would never have been noticed using conventional methods due to cost or time constraints. Digital print outs equal the quality I have been getting from the darkroom. I also might add that I still prefer silver gelatin to digital as the capture medium. At least when it comes to medium format it's hard to beat that much information being captured.
